Questa estate ogni mercoledì al Sankeys di Ibiza ci sarà ViVa Warriors: il primo combattente sarà il boss Steve Lawler accompagnato settimanalmente dagli artisti della sua ViVa MUSiC. Poteva mancare Darius Syrossian? Ovviamente no. Potevamo mancare noi a chiedergli (e fargli sapere soprattutto) i 10 dischi che mai e poi mai toglierebbe dalla sua borsa dei dischi? Ovviamente no!
1. Joey Beltram – ‘Energy Flash’ – (R&S) (1990)
Some tracks just nail down, exactly what house music is about, getting lost in your own world on the dancefloor, you don’t care who your with, where you are, the only thing that matters is you and the music. This gives me that feeling every time I play it, and I have the original 1990 vinyl copy! I still play this track a lot, infact I played it at Space in Ibiza recently.
Alcune tracce sono dei cimeli, esattamente di cosa tratta l’house music, perdersi nel proprio mondo sulla pista da ballo, non ti importa con chi sei, dove sei, l’unica cosa che conta sei tu e la musica. Questo mi dà quella sensazione ogni volta che lo suono, e ho la copia originale in vinile del 1990! Suona ancora molto questa traccia, infatti l’ho suonata molto allo Space di Ibiza recentemente.
2. Liberty City – ‘Get Some Lovin’ – (Murk Recs) (1992)
The Murk guys have been all time heroes of mine since the mid 90’s when i first started DJing. It was when everyone was pumping out piano anthems, these guys were knocking out tracks with GROOVE, SOUL, AND DEEPNESS, but still keeping it TOUGH AND DIRTY, like dirty dirtyyyyyyy! The drum programming with these guys is unreal, and this track has all those elements and just one of the best vocals on a house track ever, amazing track.
I ragazzi della Murk sono stati i miei eroi di tutti i tempi sin dalla metà degli anni ’90, quando ho iniziato a fare il dj. E’ stato quando tutti creavano inni col pianoforte, questi ragazzi rilasciavano tracce con Groove, Soul, e profondità, ma mantenendole difficili e sporche, come dire sporchissime! La programmazione del tamburo con questi ragazzi è irreale, questa traccia ha tutti quegli elementi e solo una delle migliori voci su traccia house mai esistita, un brano meravigliosa
3. Tony Lionni – Precious (Deetron remix)
Deetron is truly one of the most talented producers out there, 100% no doubt about it. Every time I drop this track, no matter what club it sends the dancefloor into a frenzy. He has done so many great productions, his remix of ben westbeech falling (vocal version) is another masterpiece.
Deetron è veramente uno dei produttori più talentuosi, al 100% non ci sono dubbi. Ogni volta che suono questa traccia, non importa in che locale, il dancefloor va in delirio. Ha fatto tante e grandi produzioni, il suo remix di Ben Westbeech “Falling (Vocal Version)” è un altro capolavoro.
4. Robert Armani – ‘Circus Bells’ (Hardfloor remix) (Djax Records) (1993)
Hardfloor were just expert at the groovy acid thing, but I think this remix they did over all of the others was the best. The way it builds, and builds and then hits you, not many tracks have the intensity of this, but still keep a sexy groove. It still does the damage!! I played this at Sonar 2012 at Mac Arena Mar down on the beach and it did the job perfectly!
Gli Hardfloor erano esperti delle cose groovy e acid, ma penso che questo remix che hanno fatto su tutti gli altri era il migliore. Il modo in cui è costruito e si costruisce e poi ti colpisce, non molti brani hanno l’intensità di questo, ma continua a tenere un groove sexy. Fa ancora il delirio! Ho suonato questo al Sonar 2012, al Mac Arena Mar sulla spiaggia e ha fatto perfettamente il suo lavoro!
5. Salvatore Freda – Irpinia (Massimo Di Lena Remix)
I have never understood why Massimo Di lena (aka Massi Dl) has never got the recognition he deserves, all his tracks have real old school jackin vibes, a lot of good energy that tear up the floors. I don’t see many new productions from him as of late which is a bit of a shame, but this never leaves my record box.
Non ho mai capito perché Massimo Di Lena (aka Massi Dl) non ha mai avuto il riconoscimento che merita, tutti i suoi brani sono vere e proprie “old school jackin vibes”, un sacco di energia positiva che fomentano i dancefloors. Non vedo molte nuove produzioni da lui ed è un peccato, ma questo brano non lascia mai la mia bag dei dischi.
6. Luna City Express – Mr Jack (Catz N’ Dogz remix)
Some tracks manage to bridge the gap of cool, sexy funky, underground, but can still be dropped at peak time because they have that PHAT heavy beat and a kick drum that just on its own will sound good on a big system. Even though this is perfect for the cooler smaller intimate venues, I have no problem dropping it at the huge parties to a few thousand people, as I know it will still work in that situation too.
Alcuni brani riescono a colmare il gap di cool, sexy funky, underground, ma può ancora essere eliminato nelle ore di punta perché hanno quel battito PHAT pesante e una grancassa che solamente da solo suonerà bene in un grande impianto. Anche se questo è perfetto per le venues più freddi piccoli intimi, non ho alcun problema a farlo suonare nei party enormi per poche migliaia di persone, perchè so che continuerà a funzionare anche in quella situazione.
7. Lovebirds – Chasing things
This track is just bliss, and the bass in the breakdown in the middle, when it comes back in is amazing. Nothing but a lovely piece of well written electronic music that is oozing with soul!!
Questa traccia è solo felicità, e il basso nella ripartenza nel mezzo, quando ritorna è incredibile. Nient’altro da dire ma che è un bel pezzo di musica elettronica ben fatta che trasuda con l’anima!
8. Cecyl – End (VIVa MUSiC on VIVa Warriors DISC 2 CD compilation July 2012)
This is a track I came across when looking for tracks for my summer compilation for VIVa MUSiC called VIVa Warriors. I found it in Jan 2012, and I have played it in every single set since then! It’s from a young 19 year old from UK and it is one of the first tracks he has ever done. This track has everything, lots of soul, but the bass is just unreal, strong groove and this is pure un-adulterated HOUSE music, this is never going to leave my box!
Questa è una traccia che ho trovato cercando le tracce per la mia compilation estiva di VIVa MUSiC chiamata VIVa Warriors. L’ho trovata a gennaio 2012, e l’ho suonata in ogni singolo set da allora! E’ di un giovane di 19 anni dal Regno Unito ed è uno dei primi brani che abbia mai fatto. Questo brano ha tutto, un sacco di soul, ma il basso è irreale, un forte groove ed è pura non-adulterata musica HOUSE, questo di certò non lascerà la mia bag!
9. Hector Couto – Creampie (Darius Syrossian remix)
This is one from me and always does the damage. Fortunately DJ Sneak put it on his Fabric mix, and because of that everyone knows about it now, but it hasn’t been burnt out. Unfortunately some tracks become big and you can never play them again, but luckily I think this has kept that underground aspect, so I’m hoping people will continue to play it!
Questo è un mio remix che fa sempre il delirio. Fortunatamente DJ Sneak lo ha messo nel suo mix per il Fabric, e per questo tutti adesso la conoscono, ma non è stato bruciato. Purtroppo alcuni brani diventati grandi non si possono suonare di nuovo, ma per fortuna credo che questo ha mantenuto quell’aspetto underground, la gente spero continuerà a suonarlo!
10. Kabale Und Liebe – Hotpants
I love Kabel Und Liebe’s Dj sets and I love his productions, always such a strong emphasis on the groove. The way he uses snares are amazing, he knows how to do drum programming let me tell you!! This one gets a lot of plays from me and I don’t think it will ever leave my box because it’s a great track for when this kind of vibe is needed.
Amo i dj sets di abel Und Liebe e amo le sue produzioni, sempre con una forte enfasi sul groove. Il modo in cui usa gli snares sono incredibili, sa come fare la programmazione dei drum, lasciatevelo dire da me! Questo brano lo suono molto spesso e non credo che lascerà mai la mia bag perchè è una grande traccia per quando è necessaria questo tipo di atmosfera.
