Argentino di nascita, giramondo per vocazione. Innamorato della musica, della vita, della sua terra, legato alla sua famiglia come nessun altro, trasmette queste emozioni e in ogni suo lavoro. Sarà questo il motivo della sua così rapida e fruttuosa ascesa? Tra un’impegno e l’altro, siamo riusciti a strappargli, un’intervista al volo.
Fin da giovane avevi capito che la tua strada sarebbe stata quella della musica e del “far ballare”. Dal primo EP “Memoria Colectiva”, sino alla club culture Berlinese, che ti ha consacrato con Cadenza, come è cambiato il modo di far musica negli ultimi anni?
Non molto, credo che ho imparato più cose tecnicamente e ho anche trovato nuovi modi di approccio nella composizione musicale.
I viaggi sono una costante in tutta la tua vita: la giovinezza che ti ha portato a conoscere posti, amicizie e sonorità nuove, sino ad oggi, dove i tuoi tour mondiali ti costringono ad essere per non più di due tre giorni nello stesso posto. Come si riesce a mantenere il legame con le proprie origini, con la propria terra, ed a trasmettere questo nelle sonorità delle proprie canzoni?
Da quando ho lasciato l’Argentina la mia vita è stata piena di uscite, alti e bassi e tanti viaggi, ma non c’è un solo giorno in cui non penso alla mia casa, la mia famiglia, l’aria e al vasto cielo blu, che è così particolare nella mia città… questa è tutta la mia musica, ogni volta che vado in studio vedo quel luogo, è sempre lì. Vado in Argentina anche una volta all’anno a visitare i miei cari.
Cosa ti ha spinto a lasciare la tua terra per arrivare proprio in Europa, a Berlino, quindi in una nazione così lontana ma, soprattutto, così diversa dalla tua?
Ho lasciato l’Argentina 10 anni fa, e il motivo per cui l’ho lasciata era perchè volevo fare una vita fuori per poter diventare un dj a tempo pieno e produrre musica. Sentivo che in Argentina non sarebbe stato possibile realizzare questo sogno.
Internet e le nuove telecomunicazioni permettono di stare in contatto con chiunque in ogni parte del mondo. Ciò che manca ancora è il contatto umano. Come si riesce a stare per così tanto tempo distanti dai propri cari e dalla propria famiglia?
Chiamandoli continuamente, ma la cosa più importante è sapere che vivono nel mio cuore, sono tutti ottimi ricordi. Sono quei ricordi e memorie che compaiono sempre nella mia mente dandomi gioia e facendomi sorridere… la parte migliore di questo è che non ho bisogno di wi-fi, Gps o 3g per sentirmi collegato con loro.
Molti dicono che il mestiere del Dj è il lavoro più bello del mondo. Pochi hanno però la fortuna di farlo a livelli professionali ai quali tu sei arrivato. Se però non avessi intrapreso questa strada, che futuro avresti immaginato per te? Quale lavoro pensi potresti aver fatto o che comunque suscitava in te interesse?
Beh questo può sembrare azzardato, ma ho fatto i miei studi in commercio internazionale e in economia presso l’università di allora in Argentina. Stavo già lavorando in questo campo, quando ha deciso di appendere gli abiti e le cravatte e dedicare la mia vita solo alla musica.
Sei uno che ha bruciato le tappe, già a 13 anni ti interessavi di gruppi come i Pink Floyd, e già eri alla ricerca di sonorità nuove, sperimentali e da sperimentare. A 16 eri già DJ, e la passione per la musica si trasformava in attività lavorativa. Che consigli daresti, oggi, ad un giovane aspirante musicista che vorrebbe affrontare questa strada?
Come mio nonno diceva sempre… studia per comprendere e lavora sodo per ottenere quello che vuoi.
Ritornando alle tecnologie, oggigiorno il Dj professionista può scegliere tra innumerevoli soluzioni per quanto concerne la strumentazone utilizzabile, dal classico vinile all’ormai sempre più diffuso computer. Tu ti destreggi in maniera eccezionale in tutte le diverse tipologie di console spingendoti anche nel live set. Secondo te qual è oggi la miglior scelta e con la quale ti trovi meglio?
Ce ne sono molti di validi come il classico Urei, ma alla fine è una questione di gusto. Attualmente l’ Allen & Heath – Xone 92 è quello con cui mi trovo meglio.
Cosa pensi di chi critica i Dj che usano il computer unicamente per il mixaggio, reputato ormai dai più il successore del cd e del vinile, e discusso per la sua facilità di utilizzo?
Non ho alcuna opinione su quelli che criticano o meno. L’unica cosa che posso dire è… Suonate il vinile! Salvate la dinamica! Accettate anche i “dolci” errori.
Ormai la tua presenza nei festival che contano è una costante ed, anzi, la tua presenta è garanzia per il festival stesso. Lo stesso dicasi per quanto riguarda i club, dove la tua presenza è contesa dai club più famosi e gettonati. A questo punto mi verrebbe da chiederti: prediligi meglio le atmosfere e le emozioni dei festival o quelle delle discoteche?
Mi piace suonare nei festival durante il giorno, ma poi fino a notte fonda preferisco sempre i buoni e validi piccoli clubs.
Lavori con Cadenza una delle etichette (se non l’etichetta), più famose, e per questo indice di qualità e professionalità per quanto riguarda i suoi musicisti; le tue collaborazioni sono sempre ricercate, hai praticamente realizzato tutto ciò che un Dj può chiedere in una carriera da professionista. Sappiamo però, conoscendoti, che non ti accontenti mai, per migliorarti sempre. Cosa hai in serbo per il prossimo futuro? Qualche anticipazione?
Beh, è da un anno che non rilascio uscite. Solo un paio di remix, ma “El Paraiso de las Tortugas” il mio album di debutto uscirà alla fine di ottobre su Cadenza Records.
C’è anche roba nuova su Chic Miniature su cui aspetto di trovare il tempo per sedermi e dare gli ultimi ritocchi.

Argentine born world traveler by vocation. Love music, life, of his land, attached to his family like no other, and transmit these emotions in all his work. Will be the reason for its rise so rapid and successful? Between a demanding and the other, we managed to snatch a quickly interview.
Since young you realized that your way would have been music and “to dance”. From the first EP “Memory Colectiva” until the Berlin club culture, which has anointed you with Cadence, and as it changed the way of making music in recent years?
Not much, I guess that I just learned more things on the technical side of things and also founded new ways to approach music composition.
Travel is a constant in your life: youth that led you to know people, friends and new sounds, so far, where your world tours force you to be no more than two to three days in the same place. As you can maintain the link with their origins, with its earth, and to convey this in the sound of their songs?
Since I left Argentina my life has been full of exiting times, ups & downs and many travels, but there’s no one single day that I don’t think in my home, my family, the air and that vast blue sky that are so particular in my hometown… that is all over my music, every time I hit the studio I see that place, is there all the time. I also go to Argentina once a year to visit my loved ones .
What prompted you to leave your land to get it in Europe, in Berlin, then in a nation so far, but above all so different from yours?
I left Argentina 10 years ago, and the motive for which I left was that I wanted to make a living out of being a full time dj and also I wanted to produce music. So I felt that in Argentina it was not going to be possible for me to achieve the dream I was aiming for.
Internet and new telecommunications permit to stay in touch with anyone anywhere in the world. What is still lacking is the human contact. How do you manage to stay so long away from loved ones and family?
Calling them constantly, but most important knowing that they live in my heart, were all the good memories habit. Are those memories and souvenirs the ones that pop up constantly into my mind giving me joy and making me laugh… the best part of this is that I don’t need wi-fi, Gps or 3g to feel connected whit them.
Many say that the craft of DJ is the best job in the world. Few are fortunate enough to do it to professional standards to which you are arrived. But if I had not gone down this road, you would have imagined that the future for you? What job do you think you might have done or that aroused interest in you?
Well this may sound wired, but I did my studies in international trades and economics at the university back then in Argentina. I was already working in that field when decided to hang the suits and the ties and dedicate my life just to the music.
You have burned the stages; you were 13 years and you were interested in bands like Pink Floyd, and were already looking for new sounds, and experimental testing. At 16 you were already a DJ, and passion for music turned into work. What advice would you give today to a young aspiring musician who wants to face this way?
As my Grandpa always said… study to comprehend and work hard to achieve what you want.
Returning to the technology, nowadays the professional DJ can choose among many solutions concerning the equipment used, from classic vinyl to the now increasingly popular computer. You will juggle exceptionally well in all different types of console also going in live set. In your opinion what is today the best and with whom you are better?
There are many very good like the classic urei , but at the end is a question of taste. For me currently Allen & Heat – xone 92 is whit the one that I fell more confortable.
What do you think of those who criticize DJs that use computers merely for mixing, now considered by most the successor to the CD and vinyl, and debated for its ease of use?
I don’t have any opinion on those who criticize or not. The only thing that I can say is….Play vinyl!! Save the dynamics! Embrace the sweet mistakes.
Now your presence at festivals that matter is settled and, indeed, your present is a guarantee for the festival itself. The same applies in respect of club, where your presence is contended by the club’s most famous and popular. At this point I would wonder: do you prefer better atmospheres and emotions of those festivals, or nightclubs?
I like to play in festivals during the day time like in the case of Venice… but then deep into the night I always prefer sticky sweatiy little clubs.
You work for Cadenza one of the labels (if not the label), most famous, and this index of quality and professionalism regarding his musicians; your team is always selected, you have almost achieved everything that a DJ can ask a professional career. We know, however, knowing that you are not happy never to improve, more. What keeps the near future? A preview?
Well I haven’t put any music out since a year now. Just a couple of remixes, but “El paraíso de las Tortugas” my debut album will be out late October on Cadenza Records.
There’s also new Chic Miniature stuff waiting for us to find the time to sit down and give it the last touches.
